Clock Project Summary
If I were to create this project in the lab, I would create over four days. The first day would be conceptualizing and starting on making files, the second day would be finishing the files and starting the router on the face. The third day would be using the vinyl cutter to make the numbers and starting the 3D prints. The fourth and final day would be assembly. I chose to use the router for the face because it would be important to have a nice strong base. The fact that the router works off a single block of material is what made me choose it. the hands would be 3D printed to be the nice black color that I wanted and also because the 3D printer can handle the thinner parts of the hands. I chose to use the vinyl cutter for the hands because it would contrast nicely with the wood or plastic of the face.
Face
The face of the clock will be a flat circle with a small hole in the middle for the spindle that holds the hands. It will be engraved in wood by the router and will have a small lip on the outside. The numbers will not be engraved.
Hour Hand
The hour hand is the shortest of the hands and has a simple design. It would be 3D printed.
Minute Hand
The minute hand is the same length as the second hand and has a small indicator at the top to precisely tell the time and differentiate it from the second hand. It would also be 3D printed in black.
Second Hand
The second hand is the same length as the minute hand, but would be thinner. It would be 3d printed in black
Numbers
The numbers would be made out of black vinyl.
